Cultivate
Cultivated design should serve the specific needs, scope & scale of each unique project. By listening well we can craft beautiful, thoughtful and generative architectural solutions. Design can change lives in everyday moments.
BASIC COMPONENTS OF DESIGN: The essential design components that turn an idea into a work of art are the same for the conceptual phase of architecture.
Line, Direction, Proportion, Rhythm, Texture, Balance, Emphasis, Variety, Unity, Emptiness
WHAT IS ARCHITECTURE?
Architecture is the design of space and form as well as the communication of that design to the crafts people that will construct the project. Architecture is affixed exterior and interior components including foundations, walls, doors, windows, structure and roof. As the Architect develops concepts into architectural form, she uses specific rules to guide and fine tune the composition.
COMPONENTS OF ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN:
Place, Identity, Scale, Alignment, Movement, Light, Passive Solar/Wind, Efficiency, Balance, Pattern, Structure, Function, Flexibility, Emphasis, Emptiness
WHAT IS INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE?
Interior Architecture is the added layer to thoughtfully design thresholds, archways, ceiling heights, cabinets, and particular textures and materials within the home. Lighting arrays and reflected ceiling plans. Trim profile. Pocketing shades.
WHAT IS INTERIOR DESIGN AND DECORATIVE DESIGN?
Interior Design is the curation and selection of affixed finishes including tile, wallpaper, decorative lighting, and cabinet profiles. Decorative Interior Design includes functional and decorative items that are loose or not permanently part of the architecture; including furniture, certain wall finishes such as paint and wallpaper, window curtains, and accent lighting such as wall sconces, pendants, and chandeliers.

PRINCIPLES OF DECISION MAKING:
The Architect uses tools, skills, critical thinking + general principles that inform how an architect approaches the architectural design process.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

Flow + Variety: What defines and connect spaces?
Tuning + Discipline: Efficiency and editing to clarify the design
Prospect + Refuge: Where are the places of wonder and rest?
Gathering + Utility: How do the spaces serve the occupants and those they welcome?
Sustainability (selections + systems): What are the goals to be good stewards of resources
Details + Legibility: What is the design language and how does it permeate the design?
Materials + Texture: Softness, variety, interest, warmth, authenticity.
Indoor + Outdoor: How do spaces flow from within? And how do views and light fill?
Connection + Privacy: Define public and private spaces
